How AI is changing content creation for WordPress

Introduction: what changes is not the writing, it is the division of labour
The usual promise — "write ten times faster" — describes what happens badly, and that is why it disappoints. Writing was never the bottleneck of a company blog. The bottleneck is everything else:
- deciding what is worth writing about;
- gathering the material: figures, cases, real customer objections;
- producing what surrounds the text — summaries, metadata, alt text, translations;
- reviewing, which is the one thing that cannot go away.
Artificial intelligence does not speed up the part you think it does. It speeds up the surroundings, and those surroundings account for most of the real time a publication takes.
1. The division that works
To the machine, no argument:
- image alt text — mechanical, repetitive, and the most consistently empty field on a website;
- meta descriptions — stable format, low individual risk;
- summaries of long articles;
- the first translation pass into your other languages;
- reformatting an existing text into another format.
To you, without exception:
- the angle — what your article says that is not already in ten other pages;
- the figures and facts — a model produces a plausible figure when it does not know the real one, and on a public page that is an error, not an approximation;
- the limits — what the solution does not do; that is what marks out a text written by someone who has actually tried it;
- the decision to publish.
The point that settles the whole division: the angle exists nowhere in the data. Without it, a perfectly constructed article does not rank, because it adds nothing you cannot find elsewhere.
2. What gets worse when you automate without material
Three flaws show up systematically in content produced from a prompt rather than from material:
- it answers without adding — the same points as the top ten results, in a different order;
- it has no verifiable example, because the source had none;
- it never contradicts itself, which is a signal in itself: a text that states no limits was not written by anyone who tested them.
The test before publishing, and it fits in one sentence: what is in this article that you cannot find anywhere else? If the answer does not come within five seconds, the article is not ready — and no tool will make it ready.
3. The workflow, in practice
- Choose the topic from real demand: search queries, and above all support questions, which are already validated by demand
- Gather the material: figures measured at your end, one case, the three most frequent objections
- Write the angle yourself, even in three sentences — it is the core
- Have the surroundings produced: outline, transitions, summary, metadata, alt text
- Check every figure against its source, without exception
- Check every internal link on disk before publishing — an article pointing at a missing page damages both
- Read the first paragraph and the conclusion out loud: those are the two places where a lack of intent can be heard
4. Multilingual, where the gain is greatest and so is the risk
Translating an article into five languages used to be a project. Today it is a first pass of a few minutes and one review per language.
The gain is real. So is the risk, and it has a name: dilution of voice. Five languages produced without a guide give five different tones, and the visitor feels it without being able to say why.
Two rules that prevent it:
- a voice guide per language, written before the first batch — above all the form of address, which is the most visible;
- a review by a speaker of the language on commercial pages, if not on all of them.
5. What does not change at all
- Review remains mandatory, and it has to sit in the right place: on what is published, not on what is produced.
- Responsibility cannot be delegated. A text published on your site commits you, whatever tool helped write it.
- Regulated claims — health, safety, environmental, pricing — are never generated without verification.
- Time saved is not free time. It gets reinvested in the material and in the review, or the content loses exactly what made it useful.
Conclusion
AI does not transform content creation by making you write faster. It transforms it by shifting your work towards the one thing you cannot delegate: choosing the topic, gathering the material, bringing the angle and reviewing.
That shift has an uncomfortable consequence: there is no volume excuse left. Once the surroundings are produced, what remains is exactly what separates a useful article from page filler — and that has always been human work.
