WordPress Maintenance Mode: the free AIFORYA plugin
Customizable Maintenance and Coming Soon page for WordPress. Free plugin, role and IP access control, countdown timer, no API key.

Display an elegant maintenance page without losing your search rankings.
AIFORYA Maintenance Mode shows your visitors a fully customizable maintenance or pre-launch page, while letting administrators (and the people you choose) access the site normally. The core of the plugin runs locally, with no complicated setup and no API key, and stays free with no time limit.
- Two modes, one setting: Maintenance (HTTP 503) that protects your SEO, or Coming Soon (HTTP 200) indexable for a landing page.
- Fine-grained access control: allow roles and IP addresses to bypass maintenance.
- No forced artificial intelligence: purely statistical text optimizer, no account required.
Why a simple "Site under maintenance" page is not enough
Taking your site down without care has two invisible costs. The first is technical: if your maintenance page returns a "normal" HTTP 200 code, search engines may index empty content and degrade your rankings. The second is commercial: a visitor who lands on a bare, uninformative message leaves, whereas a polished page can reassure them, give a return date and capture their email to notify them.
AIFORYA Maintenance Mode addresses both: it sends the right HTTP code according to your intent, and turns the downtime into a branded page with countdown, FAQ and email signup — all managed from a single admin screen.
What the plugin does
- Customizable page — title, message, logo, background, text and accent colors, and a choice of fonts (including Google Fonts loaded only if selected).
- Background image and ambiance — full-screen image, adjustable color overlay and lightweight CSS animations that respect the
prefers-reduced-motionpreference. - Access control — allow certain user roles and an allowlist of IP addresses (IPv4 and IPv6) to bypass maintenance.
- Countdown — dynamic count down to the end date and time, with optional automatic disabling.
- Text optimizer — test several variants of title, message and button; the statistical algorithm continuously learns which combination converts best.
- Built-in FAQ — display questions and answers in an accordion to reduce support requests during maintenance.
- Email signup — offer visitors to leave their email to be notified when the site is back, with GDPR consent and anti-spam protections.
- Redirect and reverse proxy — redirect to an external URL and detect the real visitor IP behind Cloudflare or nginx.
- Multilingual interface — French, English, German, Spanish, Italian and Dutch.
How it does better than competing free plugins
| AIFORYA Maintenance Mode | Common free plugins | |
|---|---|---|
| Correct HTTP code | 503 in Maintenance, 200 in Coming Soon | Often 200 by default (SEO risk) |
| Access control | By role and by IP allowlist | Limited to administrators |
| Countdown | Included, with auto disabling | Often paid |
| Text optimizer | Included, local statistical computation | Absent |
| GDPR email signup | Included with anti-spam | Reserved for the paid version |
Privacy and technical honesty
The core of the plugin runs without any network call. Two transparent caveats: if you choose a Google font in the Appearance tab, it is loaded from Google's servers (prefer a system font to stay 100% local); and an optional Support/Review tab only transmits a message to the AIFORYA service on your initiative, after explicit consent.
